Who we are
Denomidate (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a dating and community service for people of faith.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Denomidate app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service. By using Denomidate, you agree to the practices described here.
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address and a password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form) when you register.
- Profile information — your name, photos, bio, gender, faith (including your faith history), and location (country and state/province). This is the information other members see.
- Messages and media — the content of your one-on-one conversations and group chat rooms, including photos, videos, and voice messages you share, so we can deliver them and show your message history across devices.
- Connections — your friend requests, friends list, blocks, and reports.
- Google Sign-In (optional) — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google to create and verify your account. We do not receive or store your Google password, and we do not access any other Google data (such as your contacts, calendar, or files).
- Face verification selfie (optional) — if you choose to verify your face, you take a selfie that we compare against your profile photo to confirm it’s really you. The comparison runs in memory and we store only whether it passed — we never keep the selfie or any faceprint.
Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data — a push notification token for your device, your device platform (iOS or Android), app version, and standard server logs (such as IP address and request times) used to deliver notifications and for security and reliability. We do not collect device advertising identifiers and do not build device fingerprints.
- Activity data — online/offline presence, and, for Premium features, who has viewed your profile and read receipts.
- Purchase status — whether you have an active Premium subscription. Payments are processed by the app stores; we never see your card details.
- Approximate location (optional) — if you tap “Use my location”, the app reads your device’s location once to fill in your country and city/state. From those coordinates we store only an approximate, city-level point — rounded so it never identifies your exact position — which we use to show members who are nearer to you earlier in discovery. You can type your location manually instead, we never track your location in the background, and we never share precise coordinates with other members.
Device permissions
The app asks for camera, microphone, and photo library access only so you can take and share photos, videos, and voice messages in chats, for notification permission to deliver message alerts, and for location permission when you choose “Use my location” to fill in your area. Each permission is optional and requested only when you use the related feature; you can change them at any time in your device settings.
How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and profile
- To show you compatible people through discovery — matching on faith and gender, and ordering results so members who share your faith and are nearer to your approximate location appear first
- To deliver messages, friend requests, and push notifications
- To provide Premium features you have purchased
- To keep the community safe — enforcing blocks, reviewing reports, and preventing abuse
- To respond when you contact support
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
Sensitive information and your consent
Because Denomidate is a faith-based dating service, some of the information you choose to share — in particular your faith and faith history, and information that may reveal your religious beliefs or sexual orientation — is treated as sensitive (“special category”) personal data under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR.
We process this information only to provide the core matching and community features of the Service, and we rely on your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to add this information to your profile and using the app. You can withdraw that consent at any time by editing or removing the information, or by deleting your account.
What other members can see
Your profile (photos, name, bio, faith, and general location) is visible to other Denomidate members through discovery and search. Your privacy settings control who can message you and whether your profile activity is shared. You can block any member at any time, which immediately stops them from seeing or contacting you.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Denomidate, each receiving only what they need to do their job:
- Cloudflare R2 — stores profile photos and chat media
- Google Firebase — delivers push notifications
- Amazon Web Services (Rekognition) — performs a one-time selfie-to-photo match when you verify your face. The comparison runs in memory and we store only the pass/fail result — never your selfie or any faceprint
- RevenueCat — manages Premium subscription status
- Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, and security for our services
We may add or change providers over time; we keep this list current and require every provider to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our members.
Where your data is processed
Denomidate is operated from Nigeria, and the providers above process data in various countries, including within the European Union and the United States. This means your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the one you live in, whose data-protection laws may differ from your own.
Wherever your data is processed, we protect it as described in this policy, and where required we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses — for international transfers.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app’s settings. When you do:
- your profile is hidden from discovery, search, and other members immediately, and you are signed out on all your devices;
- your personal data — profile, messages and shared media, matches and connections, room chat history, and profile-view records — is permanently erased within 30 days; and
- deletion is permanent. Your account and its data cannot be recovered. You’re free to create a new account with the same email later, unless the account was banned for abuse (see below).
When you request deletion, we give you a one-time reference code — in the confirmation screen and by email. Save it: it’s the only way to check the status of your request afterward, since we don’t keep anything else that could identify you once the deletion is complete.
After deletion we retain only a limited set of records, and only where the law allows or requires it:
- Safety — if your account was banned for abuse before you deleted it, we retain your email address so the same person cannot evade the ban by deleting and re-registering. We keep nothing else about you — no profile, messages, or other personal data.
- Financial — subscription and purchase records are held by the app stores and RevenueCat as required for tax and accounting.
- Accountability — we keep a minimal, non-identifying record that a deletion took place: a one-way hash of your reference code, plus the request and completion timestamps, so we can show we honoured your request. Without the original code, this record can’t be traced back to you — that’s also how you can check your own deletion’s status later, at denomidate.com/delete-account.
Subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play are billed by those stores — deleting your account does not cancel them. Cancel the subscription in your store account to stop billing.
You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing support@denomidate.com.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Age requirement
Denomidate is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing.
- Access & portability — you can download a complete, machine-readable copy of your data at any time from Settings → Account → “Download my data” in the app.
- Deletion — you can delete your account from the app’s settings (see “Data retention and deletion” above).
- Correction & objection — to correct your information or object to how we process it, email us at support@denomidate.com.
We respond to all requests promptly, and in any case within one month.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email, and update the “last updated” date above.
